A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth, restoring its shape, strength and appearance. At Diamante Clinica crowns are produced using digital intraoral scanning for an accurate fit, and the same price applies whether the crown sits on a natural tooth or on an implant. It suits teeth that are too broken down for a filling but worth keeping, and teeth that have had root-canal treatment and need protecting.

A crown is a tooth-shaped restoration that fits over the whole visible part of a tooth, used when a tooth is too damaged, cracked or heavily filled to be restored with a simple filling. By encasing the tooth, the crown restores its natural shape and biting surface and protects the remaining structure from further fracture — which is why crowns are routinely recommended after root-canal treatment, when the underlying tooth becomes more brittle. At Diamante Clinica the tooth is first shaped to make room for the crown, and a digital intraoral scan is taken instead of a conventional putty impression, which is more comfortable and feeds an accurate model to the laboratory. The clinic fits porcelain crowns on natural teeth and, at the same price, porcelain crowns on implants as the final stage of implant treatment. Where a root-treated tooth has lost a lot of structure, a post-and-core build-up may be needed first to support the crown, which is quoted separately. A well-made crown is colour-matched to the neighbouring teeth for a natural appearance and, with good hygiene, is associated with many years of function. The dentist will confirm whether a crown is the right option — as opposed to a filling, onlay or extraction — at examination, and explain any preparatory steps and the final cost.
