Type
MRI Scan
Duration
1 hour
Combined 3T MRI of the brain and complete spinal cord in a single session. Covers the entire central nervous system for demyelinating disease, tumour staging, and comprehensive neurological assessment.
The neuroaxis MRI combines brain imaging with a complete spinal cord study from the craniocervical junction to the conus medullaris. At EUR 800 this is priced as a dedicated package for patients who need central nervous system imaging spanning both the intracranial compartment and the spinal canal. The primary indication is suspected or known demyelinating disease such as multiple sclerosis, where the McDonald criteria require documentation of lesion dissemination in both space and time across the brain and spinal cord. The examination is also valuable for staging primary CNS tumours, evaluating drop metastases from posterior fossa tumours, screening for spinal cord involvement in systemic conditions, and comprehensive workup of unexplained neurological deficits. The 3T field strength is particularly advantageous for spinal cord imaging, where the improved signal-to-noise ratio allows detection of small intramedullary lesions that may be invisible on lower-field systems. Total scan time is approximately 70 to 80 minutes.
