Contrast-enhanced 3T breast MRI for detection and characterization of breast lesions. High sensitivity for invasive cancers, particularly valuable for dense breast tissue where mammography has limited sensitivity.

Breast MRI at Diagnosezentrum Salzburg uses the 3T scanner with dedicated breast coils and gadolinium contrast enhancement to achieve the highest sensitivity for breast cancer detection among all imaging modalities. The dynamic contrast protocol captures enhancement kinetics that help distinguish benign from malignant lesions based on their wash-in and wash-out patterns. The examination is particularly indicated for women with dense breast tissue (where mammographic sensitivity drops significantly), those with a strong family history or genetic predisposition (BRCA1/2 carriers), patients with known breast cancer being assessed for multifocality or contralateral disease, and those with breast implants where mammographic views are limited. Breast MRI can also be used to assess treatment response in patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy. At EUR 500 including contrast agent administration, this represents the specialised breast protocol with dynamic contrast sequences. The EUR 50 contrast surcharge listed elsewhere on the price list is already factored into this examination price.
