Native 3 Tesla MRI of the brain providing high-resolution cross-sectional imaging for detection of structural abnormalities, space-occupying lesions, ischaemic changes, and neurodegenerative conditions. No referral required for private patients.
The brain MRI at Diagnosezentrum Salzburg is performed on a 3 Tesla scanner, which delivers roughly double the signal strength of conventional 1.5T systems. This translates into sharper grey-white matter differentiation, improved detection of small lesions, and clearer visualization of structures such as the hippocampus, basal ganglia, and posterior fossa contents. The standard brain protocol includes axial, sagittal, and coronal acquisitions with T1-weighted, T2-weighted, FLAIR, and diffusion-weighted sequences. Together these cover a broad range of pathology: primary and metastatic tumours, acute and chronic ischaemia, demyelinating disease, congenital malformations, and age-related volume loss. For patients who need vascular assessment in addition to structural imaging, the brain can be combined with intracranial angiography at a package price of EUR 350. Results are interpreted by the centre's radiology team under the supervision of Dr. Peter Sattlegger. Private patients do not require a doctor's referral, and the centre offers short waiting times for appointment scheduling.
