Laser Hair Removal (Alexandrite)

Laser hair removal at Dermo-Estetic uses an Arion Alexandrite laser to target the pigment in hair follicles across the face and body, reducing regrowth over a course of sessions. Individual areas can be booked, from small zones such as the upper lip, chin or armpits to larger ones like the back, torso, thighs and calves, with a combined lower-leg package available. Pricing is per area, and a course is usually advised because hair grows in cycles.

Laser hair removal works by directing pulses of laser light at the melanin in the hair shaft and follicle; the light is absorbed and converted to heat, which targets the follicle and is associated with reduced regrowth over time. Dermo-Estetic carries out the treatment with an Arion Alexandrite laser, a wavelength commonly used for hair reduction on lighter and medium skin tones. Because each hair moves through growth, transition and resting phases and only actively growing hairs respond well, a series of sessions spaced several weeks apart is typically recommended rather than a single visit. The centre prices the treatment by body area, so patients can build a plan around the zones that matter to them — the upper lip, chin, cheeks, armpits, chest, forearms, bikini line, buttocks, thighs, knees, calves, feet or the full back and torso — with a discounted package covering the calves, knees and thighs together. A patch assessment and skin-type review are used to set appropriate settings, and a cooling system or contact tip is generally used for comfort. Mild redness or a warm sensation around the follicles may occur shortly afterwards and usually settles quickly. Sun avoidance and diligent SPF before and after each session are advised, as recently tanned skin is not suitable.
