About this treatment
Botulinum toxin injections work by temporarily reducing the activity of selected facial muscles. When a muscle contracts less strongly, the skin above it folds less, so existing dynamic lines soften and new ones are slower to deepen. The most commonly treated zones are the frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines and the crow's feet at the outer eyes, and the doctor agrees the specific areas after watching how the face moves.
At Dermo-Estetic the procedure is carried out by a physician using a very fine needle, and a typical session takes only a short time. No general anaesthetic is needed; patients are usually advised to stay upright, avoid heat, alcohol and strenuous exercise, and not to rub the treated areas for the rest of the day.
