Carbon Laser Peel

Type

Facial Rejuvenation

Duration

30 min

The carbon laser peel (Hollywood Peel) applies liquid carbon to the face, then uses an Nd:YAG laser to heat and vaporise the carbon layer along with adherent sebum, dead cells, and surface impurities. Leaves skin immediately smoother, brighter, and with visibly reduced pore size.

The carbon laser peel — widely known by the marketing name Hollywood Peel — is a two-stage treatment that uses liquid medical-grade carbon as a photosensitiser in combination with an Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser to simultaneously exfoliate, cleanse, and rejuvenate the skin surface without any chemical agents or abrasive tools. The treatment has become a signature offering at aesthetic clinics across Europe and Asia due to its combination of immediate visible results, zero downtime, and versatility across skin types. In the first stage, a thin layer of liquid carbon is applied to the face and allowed to dry for 5-10 minutes. The carbon particles migrate into open pores and adhere to sebum, dead keratinocytes, blackheads, and surface debris, effectively acting as a carbon-based exfoliant waiting to be energised. The second stage involves the Nd:YAG laser handpiece being passed across the treated area in two modes: a defocused pass that heats the carbon layer and the pore contents simultaneously (producing a gentle thermal stimulation of the surrounding dermis and causing the pore to contract), followed by a focused pass at higher fluence that vaporises the carbon along with all absorbed debris — this produces an audible pop and a thin plume, and the skin surface is left free of the carbon layer and its trapped impurities. The thermal stimulation of the dermis during the defocused pass triggers a collagen synthesis response similar to other thermal-injury-based treatments, but at a much milder level — suitable for patients who want progressive collagen remodelling without the downtime of aggressive devices. Immediately post-treatment, pores appear smaller as the sebum blockages are cleared and the heat causes temporary pore tightening. Skin texture is noticeably smoother, and a characteristic brightness and clarity is visible within hours. The carbon laser peel is particularly well-suited to patients with oily or combination skin, blackhead-prone T-zones, mild acne or post-acne redness, and dull or congested complexions. It is safe across Fitzpatrick skin types I-V and requires no downtime — patients can apply makeup the following day. At 230 PLN per session, it is one of the more accessible technology-based treatments at Dermedika, and it works well as a standalone brightening treatment or as a preparatory step before more intensive procedures.
