CO2 Fractional Laser Resurfacing (SPRIMONT)

Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing using the SPRIMONT system to resurface skin, stimulate collagen renewal and treat acne scars, fine lines, skin laxity and stretch marks. The fractional approach creates thousands of micro-ablation channels across the treatment zone, triggering an intense wound-healing response that replaces aged or scarred tissue with newly synthesised collagen and elastin. Topical anaesthetic cream is applied 30 minutes before the procedure. A wide menu of zones is treatable — full face, forehead, cheeks, perioral, neck, décolletage, hands and body.

Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing operates on the concept of fractional photothermolysis: the laser beam is divided into thousands of narrow micro-beams, each creating a column of ablated tissue called a micro-treatment zone (MTZ). Only a fraction of the skin surface is treated per pass — the columns of ablation — while the surrounding intact tissue serves as a reservoir of healthy cells that migrate rapidly into each MTZ, dramatically shortening healing time compared to fully ablative CO2 treatments that remove the entire surface. The heat at the edges of each MTZ also stimulates a robust inflammatory and fibroblast response, driving new collagen and elastin synthesis in the weeks to months after treatment as the remodelling phase matures. DermaMedEst uses the SPRIMONT CO2 fractional laser system. CO2 at 10,600 nm has the highest water absorption of any common medical laser wavelength; its energy is deposited very precisely in the targeted skin layers with controlled thermal spread. Adjusting the density of columns per area, the depth of ablation and the energy per pulse allows the operator to calibrate the treatment from a gentle resurfacing pass — suitable for maintenance or sensitive areas — through to deep acne scar revision, which requires higher energy and more aggressive depth settings. Before the session topical anaesthetic cream is applied for 30 minutes; patients are advised to arrive with clean, product-free skin. During treatment patients experience warmth and a mild stinging sensation. Immediately after the procedure the skin is red and may feel hot; a soothing cream is applied. The surface of the ablated micro-columns forms a fine crust and begins to shed over four to seven days as new epithelium migrates from the surrounding intact zones. During this period the face should not be rubbed or picked; patients should use gentle, fragrance-free cleansers and a rich barrier moisturiser as the new skin forms. Social downtime is typically four to seven days. The CO2 system at DermaMedEst is also used for skin-lesion removal (dermatosurgery mode): the same laser in a focused, non-fractional mode vaporises benign skin growths — fibromas, skin tags, intradermal naevi, warts — with precise depth control and minimal scarring. Post-resurfacing care requires strict SPF 50+ use for four to six weeks as the barrier rebuilds. The collagen remodelling response continues for two to six months after the final session; for established acne scarring a course of two to three sessions is typically recommended for cumulative improvement.
