Laser-based permanent hair reduction performed at DermaMedEst using the clinic's SPRIMONT CO2 laser system for precise, physician-supervised treatment of unwanted facial and body hair. CO2 laser hair removal targets the melanin in hair follicles with controlled thermal energy, damaging the follicle's growth capacity across successive sessions that address different cohorts of the hair growth cycle. The clinic's dermatological expertise and in-house laser equipment allow individual calibration to skin type, hair colour and treatment zone.
Laser hair removal works through selective photothermolysis: the laser emits a wavelength preferentially absorbed by melanin in the hair shaft and follicle bulb. When this energy is converted to heat at the follicle, the structure responsible for hair growth is damaged or destroyed, permanently preventing regrowth in that follicle. Because only follicles in the active anagen phase are effectively targeted, multiple treatment sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart are required to address successive cohorts of hairs as they progress through their growth cycle. At DermaMedEst hair removal is performed using the SPRIMONT laser system available in the clinic's laser treatment suite. The clinic's physicians assess skin type, hair colour and the follicle density of the target area before each session to calibrate energy settings. Skin types I–IV, which are most common in the Czech population, are generally well suited to laser hair removal; patients with very light, grey or red hair — which contain minimal eumelanin — will have more limited results and this is discussed at consultation. The treated area is shaved — not waxed or plucked — in the days before each session so that the energy is directed at the follicle rather than the surface shaft. A cooling gel or device is applied to protect the epidermis during treatment. Immediately after each session the skin around treated follicles may appear red and small follicle swelling is typical, both settling within a few hours. Strict sun avoidance and SPF use before and throughout the course are essential to prevent transient pigment changes; tanned skin carries a higher risk of unintended epidermal heating. Most areas require six to eight sessions to achieve significant permanent reduction — typically 70–90 % fewer hairs — with occasional annual maintenance thereafter. Hormonal conditions (PCOS) and certain medications may reduce efficacy or require more sessions; the physician reviews full medical history at the initial consultation. The full range of treatable areas includes face, underarms, bikini line, legs, arms and back.
