The gel is placed with a fine needle or a blunt cannula depending on the area; results are visible immediately and continue to settle over one to two weeks as any initial swelling resolves. Mild swelling, tenderness or small bruises are normal for a few days. Hyaluronic acid results are commonly associated with a duration of around nine to eighteen months depending on the product and area before the gel is naturally broken down. A practical safety advantage of hyaluronic acid is that it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, which the clinic can use if you want to reverse or refine a result. Volumetry suits adults noticing flatter cheeks, a less defined jaw or chin, hollowing under the eyes or deepening nasolabial and marionette folds; suitability is confirmed at consultation.
