Type

Chemical Peels

Duration

45 min

Chemical peels apply a controlled solution to exfoliate the skin's surface and stimulate renewal, improving tone, texture, dullness, congestion and pigmentation. Dermamed offers a range — azelaic, salicylic, pumpkin, mango, biomimetic peptide and retinol — so the peel can be matched to your skin and concern. Most are gentle, progressive peels suited to a short course, with face-only and full face-neck-décolleté options.

A chemical peel uses a carefully chosen acid or active solution to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin in a controlled way, prompting the surface to renew and stimulating processes associated with improved tone, smoothness and clarity. Dermamed offers a menu of peels at different strengths and for different concerns — azelaic for redness and breakouts, salicylic for oily and congested skin, pumpkin and mango enzyme peels for brightening and refreshing, a biomimetic peptide peel, and a retinol peel for more pronounced renewal and texture work. At the appointment the skin is cleansed and the chosen solution applied for a set time before being neutralised or removed; the session takes around thirty to forty-five minutes. Depending on the peel you may feel mild tingling and see some redness, with light flaking or peeling over the following days for the stronger formulations. Gentler enzyme peels have little to no downtime, while retinol and salicylic peels may cause more visible shedding. Because the effect is progressive, peels are commonly associated with the best results as a short course every few weeks, tailored to your skin's response, with diligent sun protection in between. Peels can be focused on the face alone or extended to the neck and décolleté. The right peel and strength are selected after a skin assessment, and peels are generally avoided over active infection, on very sensitive or compromised skin and during pregnancy for certain actives.
