Mole and skin lesion removal at DermAlly is performed within the clinic's dermatological surgery service, overseen by specialist dermatologists who combine clinical expertise with precise procedural technique. The evaluation and removal of skin lesions is treated as a medical procedure requiring accurate diagnosis before any intervention, distinguishing DermAlly's approach from purely cosmetic clinics where lesions are removed without prior dermatological assessment. Before any removal is performed, the dermatologist assesses the lesion using clinical examination and dermoscopy to classify it as benign, atypical, or potentially malignant. Benign lesions confirmed on assessment — including intradermal naevi (common moles), seborrhoeic keratoses, dermatofibromas, epidermoid cysts, skin tags (acrochordons), and benign warts — can be removed for cosmetic or symptomatic reasons. Atypical or suspicious lesions are excised with appropriate margins and submitted for histopathological analysis. The removal technique is selected based on lesion type, size, location, and patient preference. Laser ablation (CO2 or erbium laser) is used for superficial, flat lesions where minimal scarring and precise depth control are priorities — particularly on cosmetically sensitive areas such as the face. Electrosurgery (diathermy) is used for exophytic lesions such as warts, skin tags, and small pedunculated moles, offering rapid removal with good haemostasis. Closure is performed with fine sutures to minimise scarring. For wart removal, DermAlly offers multiple modalities including cryotherapy (liquid nitrogen), laser, and electrosurgery, with modality selection guided by wart type (viral warts, plantar warts, periungual warts), location, and previous treatment history. Recalcitrant warts may require a combination approach over multiple sessions.
