DermAlly's Pico laser is one of the clinic's flagship energy-based treatments, utilising picosecond (trillionths of a second) pulse durations to deliver energy into the skin at a speed that conventional nanosecond lasers cannot match. The core mechanism is photoacoustic rather than photothermal: energy is converted into a pressure wave that shatters pigment granules into ultra-fine particles, which are then cleared by the body's lymphatic system. Because the energy is delivered so rapidly, heat diffusion into surrounding tissue is minimal — a key advantage for Asian skin tones, which are particularly prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) when exposed to excessive thermal energy.
