Diamond Microdermabrasion

Type

Microdermabrasion

Duration

20 min

Diamond microdermabrasion at DermaEsthetic uses a diamond-crystal-tipped applicator to mechanically abrade the outermost skin layer while simultaneously vacuuming away the loosened dead cells. Unlike crystal-based systems that spray abrasive particles, the diamond-tip method is clean, controlled and hygienic — no loose particles are left on the skin or inhaled. The treatment smooths fine wrinkles, refines enlarged pores, fades post-acne marks and stretch marks, and improves absorption of topical cosmetics applied afterwards. MUDr. Šulcová personalises the abrasion intensity and head selection to the patient's skin type and biological age.

Microdermabrasion is a non-chemical, non-laser mechanical exfoliation method that uses abrasive surfaces — in DermaEsthetic's case a diamond-coated tip rather than spray-on aluminium oxide crystals — to remove the stratum corneum (the outermost dead-cell layer of the epidermis) in a controlled, targeted manner. The simultaneous vacuum suction serves two functions: it removes the abraded cells in real time, keeping the treatment zone clean, and it increases local blood flow to the dermis, stimulating fibroblast activity and enhancing the skin's natural regenerative response. The diamond-tip applicator at DermaEsthetic is selected for the target area and desired abrasion intensity. Different head sizes address fine periocular wrinkles, broader cheek or forehead zones, and body areas including elbows, knees, arms and the backs of the hands. The abrasion depth is governed by the handpiece's tip grit, the vacuum pressure and the number of passes — all adjusted session by session to match the patient's skin type and sensitivity. This level of control distinguishes professional diamond microdermabrasion from at-home devices. The procedure is typically twenty minutes for a facial treatment and is performed without anaesthesia. Patients experience a warm scratching sensation and mild suction pull — generally described as tolerable and similar to a facial massage. Immediately after the session the skin appears pink, which fades within a few hours. Because freshly exfoliated skin has a temporarily compromised barrier, active cosmetic serums applied immediately post-treatment penetrate significantly more effectively — making microdermabrasion an ideal preparation step before other active ingredients or for boosting the performance of a home skincare routine. MUDr. Šulcová recommends a course tailored to the patient's skin age, concern severity and skin type. For maintenance of results, monthly or bi-monthly sessions are typical. The treatment has no adverse effects in appropriately selected patients, is suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types when performed at correct intensity, and involves no downtime. Contraindications include active skin infections, rosacea with telangiectasia, very thin skin, and open acne lesions.
