Fractional Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Type

Laser

Duration

30 min

Fractional laser treatment at DermaEsthetic targets the surface and mid-dermis with a grid of laser microbeams, creating a controlled wound-healing response that stimulates collagen production and progressively resurfaces the skin without full-surface ablation. Treatment duration is 20–40 minutes depending on the area, with recovery characterised by two to three days of redness and mild peeling — significantly less downtime than ablative CO2 resurfacing. MUDr. Šulcová recommends this modality for fine wrinkles, tone and texture improvement, acne scars, surgical and burn scars, and pigmentation, typically over a course of treatments for optimal cumulative effect.

Fractional laser technology divides the laser beam into an array of microscopic columns (fractional photothermolysis), treating only a fraction of the skin's surface area in each pass while leaving surrounding tissue intact. This architecture allows the untreated skin to act as a healing reservoir — resident stem cells and keratinocytes migrate into each treated microchannel and resurface it within 24–72 hours, initiating a cascade of collagen synthesis and matrix remodelling in the dermis beneath. The result is progressive skin quality improvement with each session as new collagen is laid down and old, photoaged matrix is replaced. At DermaEsthetic fractional laser treatment is performed by MUDr. Hana Šulcová on either a non-ablative or mildly ablative fractional setting, depending on the patient's skin type, the depth of the concern being treated, and the acceptable social downtime. A topical anaesthetic cream is applied before the session; during treatment patients experience a warm prickling sensation as the laser passes over the skin. Immediately after, the treated zones appear red and slightly swollen, particularly around the eyes. Over the next two to three days the treated columns shed as a superficial brownish scale (micro-crusting), which lifts away to reveal fresh skin. Make-up can typically be applied after 24 hours for lighter settings. For fine wrinkles and general texture improvement, a course of three to five sessions spaced four to six weeks apart produces the most satisfying cumulative result, as each session builds on the collagen remodelling initiated by the previous one. For deeper concerns such as acne scars or surgical scarring, fewer sessions at higher density settings are used, with longer intervals between them for recovery. Results continue to develop for three to six months after the final session as the dermal remodelling completes. The treatment is suitable for a wide range of Fitzpatrick skin types when parameters are appropriately selected; MUDr. Šulcová screens for photosensitivity, rosacea with active erythema, and healing conditions before proceeding. Post-treatment sun avoidance with SPF 50+ for two to three months is mandatory to prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on fresher, more UV-reactive skin.
