Benign Growth and Fibroma Removal

Type

Mole Removal

Duration

30 min

Removal of benign skin growths — including fibromas (soft tissue tags), seborrheic keratoses, warts and similar surface lesions — using dermatological techniques suited to the lesion type and location. At DermaClinique Písek, MUDr. Kateřina Jůzlová, Ph.D. assesses each lesion first to confirm it is benign before proceeding with removal. Methods may include electrocautery, laser ablation or minor surgical excision depending on lesion characteristics and the degree of precision required to minimise scarring.

Benign skin growths — medically referred to as fibromas, acrochordons (skin tags), verrucae (warts), seborrhoeic keratoses and dermatofibromas, depending on their histological make-up — are extremely common and generally harmless. However, they can cause cosmetic discomfort, physical irritation (especially where they rub against clothing or jewellery), or anxiety about appearance. Removal at a specialist dermatology clinic ensures both safety and the best cosmetic outcome. At DermaClinique Písek, all removal procedures are performed by MUDr. Kateřina Jůzlová, Ph.D., a board-certified dermatovenerologist. Before any removal, she performs a clinical assessment (with dermoscopy for pigmented lesions) to confirm the growth is indeed benign. This step is critical: some lesions that look like harmless fibromas can represent early-stage malignancies and should be sent to pathology rather than simply removed and discarded. **Methods used:** The appropriate removal method depends on the lesion type, its location, size and depth, and the patient's skin tone: - **Electrocautery / electrosurgery:** Efficient for raised, superficial lesions like skin tags, small fibromas and seborrhoeic keratoses. Uses controlled electrical current to vaporise the tissue with minimal bleeding. - **CO2 laser ablation:** Highly precise for flat or slightly raised lesions, pigmented keratoses and delicate areas around the eyes. Available as a named treatment at the clinic (see separate listing). - **Surgical excision:** For deeper fibromas or where a specimen must be sent to pathology. Performed under local anaesthetic. **What to expect:** Sessions are short for straightforward cases — a single small fibroma is typically addressed in 15–20 minutes. Multiple lesions may require a longer session or a staged approach. Local anaesthetic or EMLA topical cream (available for an additional 100 Kč) is used where relevant. Post-treatment, a small scab forms and falls off within one to two weeks, leaving a flat, fading mark. **Aftercare:** Keep the treated area dry for 48 hours. Apply the recommended healing cream. Avoid sun exposure on the area for 4–6 weeks and use SPF 50 if outdoors. **Pricing:** The minimum fee is 500 Kč; the final price is discussed at consultation based on the total number and characteristics of the lesions.
