Vascular Laser (KTP + VPL)

A KTP and VPL vascular laser used to target visible blood vessels and redness — spider veins, broken capillaries and diffuse facial redness. Light energy is absorbed by the vessel and is associated with its gradual fading over the following weeks. The clinic treats single lesions or whole areas such as the face, nose, cheeks and décolleté, and also offers sclerotherapy for larger leg veins.

Vascular laser at Derma Solutions uses KTP and VPL light to address visible blood vessels and persistent redness in the skin. The wavelengths are preferentially absorbed by the haemoglobin inside the targeted vessels; the resulting heat damages the vessel wall, which is then gradually cleared by the body so the vessel becomes less visible over the weeks after treatment. It is commonly used for facial thread veins (telangiectasia), broken capillaries around the nose and cheeks, and diffuse redness, as well as individual vascular lesions. A session is relatively quick — from a few minutes for a single lesion up to around twenty to thirty minutes for the whole face. Most people feel a brief snapping sensation with each pulse and need no anaesthetic, though the area may look slightly red or swollen for a short time afterwards. Depending on the extent of the vessels, more than one session spaced several weeks apart may be advised. The clinic can treat the full face, the nose, chin and forehead, the cheeks, neck and décolleté, and offers sclerotherapy as an alternative for larger leg veins, where a solution is injected to collapse the vein. Sun protection is recommended afterwards and recent tanning is avoided. Suitability and the likely number of sessions are assessed at consultation; the treatment is not appropriate over certain skin or vascular conditions.
