A Q-Switch Pastelle laser used to break down unwanted tattoo ink and excess pigment so the body can gradually clear it. Rapid pulses of light shatter the pigment into tiny particles, which is associated with fading over a series of sessions. The clinic treats small tattoos as well as sun spots and other pigmentation on the face, with the number of sessions depending on ink colour, depth and density.
About this treatment
Laser tattoo and pigment removal at Derma Solutions uses a Q-Switch Pastelle laser, which emits very short, high-energy pulses of light. These pulses are absorbed by tattoo ink or excess melanin and shatter it into microscopic fragments; the body's immune system then gradually removes those fragments over the following weeks, so the tattoo or pigment looks progressively lighter after each session.
A session is usually short and most people describe the sensation as a series of quick, hot snaps against the skin; numbing can be used for comfort and the area may be red or slightly swollen afterwards. Because the pigment is cleared gradually, multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are typically required — the exact number depends on the size, age, depth and colours of a tattoo, with some colours responding more readily than others.
