Skin Laxity Treatment

Type

Skin Tightening

Duration

1 hour

A targeted programme addressing loss of skin firmness and elasticity caused by the natural age-related decline in collagen, elastin and hyaluronic-acid production. At Derma Medical Clinic the laxity protocol combines DermaPen microneedling — which provides the deepest structural collagen stimulus — with HydraFacial hydration treatment to improve surface quality and support the healing environment. Topical numbing cream is available for the microneedling component. Suitable for facial skin showing early to moderate laxity, loss of contour definition and decreased bounce.

Skin laxity is one of the most common age-related aesthetic concerns and one of the most multifactorial: the visible sagging and loss of firmness results from declining production of type I and III collagen, fragmentation of elastin fibres, reduced hyaluronic-acid content in the extracellular matrix and the gradual downward migration of subcutaneous fat pads that previously provided structural support. No single treatment fully addresses all of these contributing factors, which is why effective laxity management typically combines collagen-stimulating and hydration-restoring approaches. At Derma Medical Clinic the skin laxity programme is built around DermaPen microneedling, which provides the deepest structural stimulus for collagen neosynthesis. At the mid-dermis depths used for laxity treatment (1.0–2.0 mm), the DermaPen punctures reach the zone of active fibroblast activity, initiating a robust wound-healing response. Over the four to six weeks following each session, fibroblasts produce new type I and III collagen fibres that progressively improve the dermis's structural integrity and the skin's mechanical resilience. With repeated sessions spaced three to four weeks apart, the cumulative collagen deposition produces visible improvement in skin firmness and the reduction of fine surface lines caused by loss of dermal thickness. HydraFacial sessions complement the microneedling component by addressing the hydration and surface quality dimension of laxity. As the dermis loses hyaluronic-acid content with age, the skin surface becomes duller, drier and less resilient, accentuating the visible appearance of laxity. The HydraFacial Vortex-Fusion serum infusion restores surface hydration, improves skin turgor and creates a visibly refreshed appearance that enhances the overall treatment result. When scheduled alternately with DermaPen sessions — one HydraFacial for every one to two DermaPen sessions — the programme provides continuous improvement in both structural firmness and surface quality. Patients with early laxity (typically those in their thirties and forties) may see significant benefit from a four-session DermaPen course; those with more established laxity (fifties and beyond) often benefit from the combined programme over a longer timeframe, with maintenance sessions every six months. The physician reviews progress at each visit and adjusts the programme accordingly.
