A straightforward tooth extraction removes a tooth that is too damaged or decayed to save, carried out under local anaesthetic so the procedure is comfortable. At Dentis routine extractions are part of everyday dental care, with clear aftercare advice to help the socket heal. Where a tooth is impacted or broken below the gum, a more involved surgical extraction is offered instead. Replacing the gap later with an implant or bridge can be planned at the same time.

About this treatment

Sometimes a tooth cannot be saved — it may be too broken down by decay, fractured, loosened by gum disease, or causing crowding — and removing it is the best way to stop pain and protect the surrounding teeth and gums. A routine (simple) extraction at Dentis is carried out under local anaesthetic, so the area is fully numb; the dentist gently loosens and lifts the tooth from its socket, a process that is usually quicker and more comfortable than patients…
