Dental Implant Placement

Type

Dental Implants

Duration

1 hour

A dental implant replaces a missing tooth root with a titanium post placed in the jawbone, providing a stable foundation for a crown, bridge or denture. At Dentica the procedure is carried out by Dr Wojciech Kot, who holds PSI/DGOI/ICOI implantology certification, giving the practice recognised implantology-centre status. After a planning consultation with imaging, the implant is placed under local anaesthetic and left to integrate before the final restoration is fitted, with optional PRF from your own blood to support healing.

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that takes the place of a natural tooth root. Once it has fused with the surrounding bone — a process called osseointegration — it can carry a single crown, anchor a bridge or stabilise a denture, restoring chewing function and appearance without involving the neighbouring teeth. At Dentica, implant treatment begins with a consultation that includes a clinical examination, diagnostic imaging and a written plan, so the number of implants and the staging of treatment are clear before anything starts. The implant itself is placed under local anaesthetic in a procedure that is generally well tolerated; the clinic offers PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) prepared from a small sample of your own blood, which may be used to support the surgical site. After placement the implant is usually left to integrate for a period of months before a healing screw is fitted at a short uncovering appointment and impressions or a digital scan are taken for the final crown or bridge. Because the practice uses a CEREC CAD/CAM workflow, definitive ceramic restorations on implants can be designed and produced in-house. Implants are well suited to adults in good general and oral health who have lost one or more teeth; the dentist will review bone volume, gum health and any medical factors at consultation, and bone grafting or a sinus lift may be recommended first where support is limited. Careful hygiene and regular reviews are associated with good long-term outcomes.
