Dental Bridge (per pontic)

Type

Crowns & Bridges

Duration

1 hour

A fixed bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by spanning the gap with replacement teeth (pontics) anchored to the neighbouring teeth or to implants. At Dentica bridges are made from tooth-coloured ceramic using the CEREC CAD/CAM workflow for a natural appearance. Pricing is per pontic, with the supporting crowns or implants quoted separately as part of the overall plan.

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) way to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of one or more replacement teeth, called pontics, which bridge the gap and are supported at each end — either by crowns placed on the adjacent natural teeth or by dental implants. Because it is cemented or fixed in place, a bridge stays put during eating and speaking and does not need to be removed for cleaning in the way a denture does. At Dentica bridges are made from tooth-coloured ceramic and designed using the practice's CEREC CAD/CAM system, which supports a precise fit and a natural appearance that blends with the surrounding teeth. The cost is calculated per pontic — the actual replacement tooth in the span — while the supporting elements, whether crowns on the neighbouring teeth or implants, are quoted separately depending on the design chosen. Treatment typically involves preparing the supporting teeth (or planning the implants), scanning, making the bridge and then fitting and adjusting it for a comfortable bite. A bridge restores the ability to chew across the gap and helps maintain the position of the remaining teeth. Cleaning under and around the pontic with the techniques the team will show you, together with regular reviews, is associated with better long-term results. The dentist will assess whether a tooth-supported or implant-supported bridge — or an alternative such as a single implant or a denture — is the best way to replace your missing teeth.
