CBCT 3D Dental Scan

Type

CT Scan

Duration

20 min

A CBCT (cone-beam computed tomography) scan is a low-dose three-dimensional X-ray that shows the teeth, jawbone, nerves and sinuses in detail that flat X-rays cannot. Denti Clinic uses CBCT for precise implant planning, assessing bone volume before grafting, locating nerves before surgery, and evaluating impacted teeth or complex root canals. The scan takes only seconds and is reviewed by the dentist to plan treatment accurately and safely. It can be arranged as a standalone diagnostic or as part of a treatment plan.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialised dental scan that captures a three-dimensional image of the teeth, jaws and surrounding structures from a single rotation around the head. Unlike a standard two-dimensional X-ray, which flattens everything into one plane, a CBCT lets the dentist view the anatomy in cross-section and in three dimensions, measuring bone height and width, seeing the exact path of nerves and the position of sinuses, and inspecting roots and impacted teeth from every angle. It does this at a comparatively low radiation dose for the information it provides. At Denti Clinic CBCT is a core part of digital treatment planning. For dental implants it is used to confirm there is enough bone in the right place and to plan the implant's size and angle before any surgery, which improves both safety and predictability. It also helps assess whether bone grafting is needed, map nerves before extractions or other oral surgery, investigate the source of pain, and evaluate teeth with complicated root canal anatomy. The scan itself takes only seconds while you stand or sit still, and there is no preparation or recovery involved. The resulting images are reviewed by the dentist and explained as part of your treatment plan. A CBCT can be taken as a standalone diagnostic referral or, more often, as one step within planning for implants, extractions or restorative work; lower-dose options such as a digital panoramic or single intraoral X-ray are used when a full 3D scan is not required.
