Wisdom teeth, the third molars at the very back of the mouth, often cause problems because there is too little space for them to come through cleanly. They may erupt only partially, grow at an angle, become impacted under the gum or bone, or repeatedly trap food and cause infection and pain. Removing a troublesome wisdom tooth can relieve these issues and protect the neighbouring molar.

At the clinic a wisdom tooth that has erupted normally can usually be taken out by a standard extraction.
