Removal of a tooth that is too damaged, decayed or impacted to save, carried out as gently as possible under local anaesthetic. Dental Corner uses cone-beam CT imaging to plan more complex and wisdom-tooth extractions and offers computer-controlled anaesthesia, nitrous-oxide sedation and general anaesthesia for comfort. The team also advises on replacing the tooth afterwards, including with an implant.
About this treatment
A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket, recommended when a tooth cannot be saved by other means — for example because of extensive decay, a fracture below the gum, advanced gum disease, or an impacted wisdom tooth that is causing pain, infection or crowding. Although keeping a natural tooth is always preferred where possible, a well-managed extraction relieves pain and prevents infection from spreading.
At Dental Corner straightforward extractions are carried out under local anaesthetic, with the tooth loosened and removed as atraumatically as possible to protect the surrounding bone, which matters if an implant is planned later.
