Dental Implants

Duration

2 hours

A titanium dental implant placed into the jaw to replace a missing tooth root, providing a stable foundation for a crown. At Dental Corner, implant surgery is planned with in-house cone-beam CT imaging and carried out by an implantology team led by a dentist with over 6,000 implants placed. The fixture integrates with the bone over several months before the final porcelain crown is fitted. Computer-controlled anaesthesia, sedation and full general anaesthesia are available for nervous patients or longer cases.

A dental implant is a small titanium screw that is surgically positioned into the jawbone to take the place of a lost natural tooth root. Once it has fused with the surrounding bone — a process called osseointegration that usually takes several months — it can support a crown, bridge or denture that looks and functions much like a natural tooth. Implants are widely chosen because they do not rely on grinding down neighbouring teeth and they help preserve the bone that tends to shrink after a tooth is lost. At Dental Corner the process begins with an implant consultation and a three-dimensional cone-beam CT scan from the clinic's own diagnostic laboratory, which lets the surgeon assess bone height and width and plan the exact implant position. Placement is performed under local anaesthetic, with computer-controlled anaesthesia, nitrous-oxide sedation or general anaesthesia available for comfort. If the bone is too thin or shallow, a bone-regeneration procedure may be carried out first or at the same time. After a healing period the implant is uncovered and a porcelain crown is screwed or cemented on top. The surgery is led by a clinician with more than 25 years of implant experience and training in Frankfurt and Siena. Implants are suited to adults with one or more missing teeth and healthy gums; the dentist reviews general health, smoking and bone quality at consultation, and outcomes are associated with good oral hygiene and regular maintenance.
