Tooth extraction removes a tooth that is too damaged, decayed or impacted to save, including problematic wisdom teeth. Dental ART covers everything from straightforward removals to surgical extraction of impacted teeth, carried out by an experienced oral and maxillofacial surgeon and planned with 3D imaging where needed. Sedation and German-speaking care are available, with implant replacement offered in the same clinic if desired.
An extraction is the removal of a tooth that cannot be saved or is causing problems — for example one that is badly broken down, severely decayed, fractured below the gum, loosened by advanced gum disease, or a wisdom tooth that is impacted and repeatedly inflamed or pressing on its neighbour. A simple extraction removes a tooth that is fully erupted and accessible, while a surgical extraction is used when a tooth is impacted, broken at the gumline or has awkward roots and needs a small incision or sectioning to remove it cleanly. Removing a persistently painful or infected tooth is associated with relieving symptoms and preventing the problem spreading to adjacent teeth and bone. At Dental ART extractions are carried out under local anaesthetic by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, using in-house 3D CT imaging to assess the roots and nearby structures — such as nerves and the sinus — before more complex removals, particularly impacted wisdom teeth. The clinic can also perform an apicectomy, removing an infected root tip while keeping the tooth, where that is the better option. For anxious patients or longer surgical procedures, treatment under anaesthesiologist-led sedation is available. Clear aftercare instructions are given to support healing and reduce the risk of complications such as a dry socket. Where a removed tooth needs replacing, the same clinic can plan an implant so the whole pathway is handled in one place. Extractions suit patients with an unsalvageable or impacted tooth; the surgeon confirms whether removal is the best option, and what type of extraction is involved, at examination. German-speaking staff support patients travelling the short distance from Frankfurt (Oder) and eastern Germany.
