Dental Cone-Beam CT Scan

Type

CT Scan

Duration

20 min

A dental cone-beam CT produces a detailed 3D image of the teeth, jawbone and surrounding structures, used to plan implants, assess impacted teeth and investigate the roots and sinuses. Dental ART carries out imaging in-house, including full and partial 3D scans as well as panoramic and cephalometric X-rays, so diagnosis and planning can be completed in one visit. It is the basis for accurate surgical and implant planning, with German-speaking care for visiting patients.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a low-dose 3D X-ray technique that captures the teeth, jawbone, nerves and sinuses in three dimensions, giving far more information than a conventional flat X-ray. It is the standard tool for planning dental implants — showing the exact height, width and quality of available bone — and is also used to assess impacted wisdom teeth, locate root canals, investigate persistent infections and check the relationship of teeth to the sinus and nerve canals. Planning surgery from an accurate 3D image is associated with safer, more predictable treatment. At Dental ART imaging is performed on site, so a scan can be taken and reviewed during the same appointment. The clinic offers a full cone-beam 3D CT as well as a smaller partial scan focused on a single area, alongside digital panoramic (pantomographic) X-rays that show the whole dentition in one image and cephalometric X-rays used in orthodontic assessment. Having this equipment in-house means implant, surgical and root canal planning can be carried out without referral elsewhere, and images can be shared with the patient and, where relevant, a referring dentist. A CBCT scan suits patients planning implants or surgery, those with impacted teeth or unexplained symptoms, and anyone whose treatment needs a detailed 3D view; the dentist advises whether a full or partial scan is appropriate. For cross-border patients from Germany, completing diagnostics and planning in a single visit is convenient, with German-speaking staff on hand.
