Professional whitening uses a peroxide-based gel to break down staining within the enamel and lighten the underlying tooth shade. In-office (chairside) whitening at 1,200 zł is performed in a single appointment: the gums are isolated, a stronger professional gel is applied to the teeth and activated, giving a noticeable lift in shade on the day. Take-home whitening at 800 zł uses custom-made trays produced from impressions of the teeth, which the patient fills with a milder gel and wears for a set period over a couple of weeks, whitening gradually and conveniently at home. The two can also be combined, with in-office whitening for a quick start and trays for top-ups. A hygiene appointment beforehand is recommended so the gel acts on clean enamel and the result is uniform. Temporary tooth sensitivity is common during or just after whitening and usually settles quickly. Whitening works on natural tooth enamel and does not change the colour of existing fillings, crowns or veneers, so the dentist will discuss expectations — and whether any visible restorations might later need replacing to match — at consultation. It suits adults with healthy teeth and gums who want a brighter smile.
