A full-ceramic crown that covers a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth to restore its shape, strength and appearance. Made entirely from ceramic for a natural, translucent look, the crown is fabricated in a laboratory and cemented over the prepared tooth. At DENS Stomatologia full-ceramic crowns are part of the prosthetics offering and are colour-matched to the surrounding teeth, making them suited to both front and back teeth where a metal-free, tooth-coloured restoration is preferred.
About this treatment
A full-ceramic crown is a tooth-shaped cap that fits over a prepared natural tooth to rebuild it when it is too broken down, worn or heavily filled to be restored with a simple filling, or after root-canal treatment when the remaining tooth needs protection. Being all-ceramic and metal-free, it transmits light in a way similar to natural enamel, which makes it a good choice where appearance matters, such as on visible front teeth, while also being strong…
At DENS Stomatologia the tooth is first shaped to make room for the crown, and where a great deal of tooth has been lost a post and core may be built up first to support the restoration; this preparatory step is quoted separately. Impressions or a scan are taken and sent to a dental laboratory, where the crown is custom-made to the agreed shade and contour. At a later visit the finished crown is checked for fit, colour and bite before being cemented…
