Professional teeth whitening lightens the natural shade of the teeth using dental-grade gels at concentrations that are not available in shop-bought kits, applied under the supervision of a dentist. It is suited to teeth that have yellowed or darkened over time through ageing, coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco or simply genetics, and works on natural tooth structure rather than fillings, crowns or veneers, which do not change colour.

Take-home whitening uses custom-made trays moulded to your teeth, which you wear with gel for a set period each day over a couple of weeks, giving a gradual, controllable result.
