Surgical extraction is used for teeth that cannot be removed simply — broken at the gumline, with awkward roots, or impacted wisdom teeth lying under the gum or bone. At Ddent these cases are managed by dental and maxillofacial surgeons under local anaesthesia, sometimes involving a small gum incision or sectioning of the tooth. The fee reflects the complexity of the case, and the socket can be supported with platelet-rich fibrin to aid healing.

About this treatment

A surgical extraction is needed when a tooth is not accessible enough for a simple lift-out — for example a wisdom tooth that is impacted against the tooth in front, only partly erupted, or fully covered by gum and bone, or a tooth that has broken at the gumline or has curved, fused or fragile roots. Impacted wisdom teeth can cause recurrent gum infection, pain, crowding or damage to the adjacent tooth, which is often why removal is advised. At Ddent…

The surgeon may raise a small flap of gum to reach the tooth and, where appropriate, divide the tooth into sections so it can be removed through a smaller opening while conserving surrounding bone — an approach that often makes recovery more comfortable than forcing out a difficult tooth whole. The site is then cleaned and, if needed, stitched, and platelet-rich fibrin prepared from the patient's own blood can be placed in the socket to support healing.…
