A removable denture is a custom-made appliance that replaces missing teeth and the surrounding gum, restoring the ability to chew and speak and supporting the lips and cheeks. An acrylic denture is made from a tooth-coloured and gum-coloured resin base into which prosthetic teeth are set; it rests on the gums and any remaining teeth and can be taken out for cleaning. It can be a partial denture filling specific gaps or a complete denture replacing a whole arch.
