PRP Platelet-Rich Plasma

Type

Mesotherapy

Duration

45 min

Autologous platelet-rich plasma therapy using the patient's own blood to extract concentrated growth factors, which are then injected into the skin to stimulate tissue regeneration, collagen synthesis, and skin quality improvement.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy at DCG Centrum Medyczne is an autologous regenerative treatment that harnesses the patient's own blood-derived growth factors to rejuvenate skin tissue. The procedure begins with a standard venous blood draw of approximately 15 to 20 ml from the patient's arm, identical to a routine blood test. This sample is then processed in a centrifuge to separate the blood into its components — red blood cells, platelet-poor plasma, and the target fraction: platelet-rich plasma containing a concentrated suspension of platelets and their associated growth factors. The concentrated PRP contains significantly elevated levels of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), and insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1), among others. When injected into the dermal layer of the skin, these growth factors activate fibroblasts, stimulate angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation), and trigger the synthesis of new collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid within the tissue. The result is genuine tissue regeneration rather than simple filling or temporary volumisation. The physician injects the PRP into the treatment areas using either micro-injections across the face or a combination of injection and microneedling to enhance penetration. Common treatment zones include the under-eye area (where thin, dark skin benefits from improved vascularity and collagen density), the cheeks (for overall skin quality), and the perioral area. The entire process from blood draw to final injection takes approximately 45 minutes. Because PRP uses the patient's own biological material, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction or foreign body response. Mild bruising and swelling at injection sites typically resolves within 2 to 3 days. Results develop progressively over 4 to 8 weeks as growth factor-mediated tissue remodelling takes effect. A series of 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results, with maintenance sessions every 6 to 12 months to sustain the regenerative benefits.
