Root canal treatment saves a tooth whose inner pulp has become inflamed or infected, by cleaning, shaping and sealing the canals inside the root. About this treatment
Root canal treatment, or endodontics, treats a tooth whose nerve and pulp tissue inside the root has become irreversibly inflamed or infected — often from deep decay, a crack or trauma — and which would otherwise need to be removed. The aim is to relieve pain and keep the natural tooth by removing the diseased tissue, disinfecting the canal system and sealing it.
