Infrared Sauna

Type

Sauna

Duration

30 min

An infrared sauna session using radiant heat panels to warm the body directly at lower ambient temperatures than traditional saunas, promoting deep relaxation, circulation, and detoxification through perspiration.

Infrared sauna technology differs from traditional Finnish saunas in that it uses infrared light panels to heat the body directly through radiant energy, rather than heating the surrounding air. This means the cabin operates at lower ambient temperatures (typically 40-60°C compared to 80-100°C in traditional saunas), making the experience more tolerable for longer sessions while still producing a deep, penetrating warmth. The infrared wavelengths penetrate the skin to a depth of several centimetres, warming muscle tissue and joints from within. This deep tissue heating promotes vasodilation and increased circulation, which can support muscle recovery, reduce joint stiffness, and promote the elimination of metabolic waste products through perspiration. At CryoPoint Berlin, the infrared sauna is available at both the Mitte and Ku'damm studios. Sessions typically last 20 to 50 minutes depending on the client's preference and tolerance. The treatment is often combined with cryotherapy in a contrast therapy approach — alternating between extreme cold (Eisbox) and deep heat (infrared sauna) to maximise the vascular pumping effect and amplify recovery benefits. Infrared sauna use has been associated with improvements in cardiovascular function, skin health, sleep quality, and stress reduction. The lower operating temperature compared to traditional saunas makes it accessible to individuals who find conventional saunas uncomfortably hot, including those with cardiovascular sensitivities who should consult their physician before use.
