Urological conditions — particularly benign prostatic enlargement and associated lower urinary tract symptoms — become increasingly prevalent in men over 50, yet are frequently tolerated rather than investigated. This programme provides a structured assessment of the urinary tract and prostate using complementary clinical and imaging approaches.

The full urological examination includes clinical assessment of the prostate gland, evaluation of urinary symptoms, and review of relevant medical history. Renal ultrasound visualises the kidneys for structural abnormalities, cysts, stones, and obstruction, while prostatic ultrasound assesses prostate size, morphology, and any focal abnormalities that may warrant further investigation.

Uroflowmetry is an objective measurement of urinary flow rate and voiding pattern. The patient urinates into a specialised device that records flow velocity over time, producing a curve that reflects the functional state of the bladder outlet and urethra.
