Hormone Testing
Duration
30 min
Comprehensive ovarian reserve assessment measuring Day 3 FSH, estradiol (E2), LH, and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) alongside a transvaginal ultrasound antral follicle count. Together these markers help characterise ovarian reserve and guide treatment planning for IUI, IVF, egg freezing, and fertility preservation. Results are reviewed at a follow-up consultation with one of CCRM's reproductive endocrinologists. Bundled within CCRM's fertility diagnostic packages; standalone Ovarian Health Assessment also available on self-pay.
CCRM Denver's ovarian reserve hormone panel is the foundational diagnostic step for any patient pursuing fertility evaluation, egg freezing, or assisted reproduction. The panel measures four key endocrine markers from a single blood draw, typically timed to the early follicular phase (Day 2–4) of the menstrual cycle when baseline hormone levels best reflect pituitary and ovarian function. Follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) is the pituitary signal that drives follicle recruitment each cycle; an elevated Day 3 FSH indicates the pituitary is working harder to stimulate the ovary, which correlates with diminished ovarian reserve. Estradiol (E2) is measured simultaneously — a premature estradiol rise can suppress FSH, producing a falsely reassuring FSH reading, so both values are interpreted together. Luteinising hormone (LH) is measured to detect any baseline LH elevation that may indicate polycystic ovarian morphology. Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) — produced directly by pre-antral and small antral follicles — is the most clinically useful single marker of ovarian reserve: it is cycle-independent (can be drawn on any day), correlates well with antral follicle count on ultrasound, and predicts ovarian response to gonadotropin stimulation. In the standalone Ovarian Health Assessment Package, AMH is paired with a transvaginal ultrasound antral follicle count (AFC) — a direct visual count of small antral follicles in each ovary — and a 15-minute provider consultation to contextualise results relative to age-matched norms and individual goals. Many large Colorado employer group plans have been required to cover fertility diagnostic testing since January 2023; CCRM's financial counselling team can verify individual plan benefits. The panel is administered Monday through Friday at the Denver Rose Medical Center location, with results communicated within two weeks.
Key Details
Ovarian reserve hormone testing is included in CCRM's IUI diagnostic package (approximately $1,490 total, covering consultation, bloodwork, uterine ultrasound, and sperm testing) and in the egg-freezing diagnostic bundle (approximately $1,725). A standalone Ovarian Health Assessment Package — including AMH blood test, transvaginal ultrasound AFC, 15-minute provider consult, and follow-up — is available on a self-pay basis; contact the clinic at (303) 355-2555 for individual pricing. Price shown reflects the IUI bundle entry point.
