PDO Thread Lift

Type

Thread Lift

Duration

1 hour

A PDO thread lift uses fine, absorbable polydioxanone threads inserted under the skin to gently lift and reposition sagging tissue and to stimulate collagen along their path. CME offers stronger lifting threads for early jowls and a softer jawline, and finer revitalising threads that improve skin firmness and texture. It is a less invasive option than a surgical lift, with results that build as collagen forms.

A thread lift uses absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) threads, the same material long used in surgical sutures, introduced under the skin through a fine needle or cannula. Lifting threads have tiny barbs or cones that grip the tissue so it can be gently lifted and repositioned, giving an immediate subtle lift, while all threads stimulate a collagen response along their path that continues to firm the area over the following weeks. The threads themselves are gradually absorbed by the body over several months, but the collagen they stimulate helps maintain the effect. At CME the area is numbed before treatment, which takes around forty-five to sixty minutes depending on how many threads are placed. Expect some tenderness, mild swelling, occasional bruising and a feeling of tightness for several days, with care taken to avoid extreme facial movements while the threads settle. The clinic offers stronger lifting threads — typically around six per treatment — to soften early jowls and define the jawline, and much finer revitalising threads, used in larger numbers, to improve skin firmness and texture rather than to lift. A thread lift is best suited to mild-to-moderate laxity in patients who are not ready for surgery; it does not replace a surgical facelift for advanced sagging. Suitability, the number of threads and any contraindications are discussed with the physician at consultation, and it is avoided in pregnancy.
