Dermal Fillers (Hyaluronic Acid)

Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers used to restore volume and definition where the face has flattened with age — cheeks, chin, jawline and the folds running from nose to mouth. Dermal filler treatment uses cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel to replace volume that is gradually lost from the cheeks, temples, chin and jawline over time. Because that loss is part of what drives sagging and deepening folds, restoring it in the right places often does more for a refreshed appearance than treating individual lines. At CME the physician assesses the face as a whole and proposes a plan, from a single millilitre to a larger multi-area approach across sessions. Numbing cream is applied first and most fillers also contain lidocaine for comfort. The gel is placed with a fine needle or a blunt cannula depending on the area; results are visible immediately and continue to settle over one to two weeks as any initial swelling resolves. Mild swelling, tenderness or small bruises are normal for a few days. The clinic notes hyaluronic acid results are generally maintained up to around a year before the gel is naturally broken down, after which treatment can be repeated. A practical safety advantage of hyaluronic acid is that it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, which CME offers should you want to soften or reverse a result. Filler is suited to adults noticing flattening of the cheeks, a less defined jaw or chin, or deepening nasolabial and marionette folds; suitability and any contraindications are reviewed by the physician at consultation.
