Reduction mammoplasty is both an aesthetic and a functional operation. Disproportionately large, heavy breasts can cause chronic neck, shoulder and back pain, grooving from bra straps, recurrent skin irritation beneath the breast fold, and difficulty exercising or finding clothing that fits. By removing surplus glandular tissue, fat and skin, the procedure relieves these symptoms while producing a lighter, higher and better-shaped breast.
