About this treatment
Protruding ears are usually caused by an underdeveloped antihelical fold or an overly deep conchal bowl — structural cartilage features that no exercise or taping in adulthood can change. Otoplasty corrects the cartilage directly and permanently.
The operation
through an incision concealed in the crease behind the ear, the surgeon exposes the cartilage and reshapes it — scoring or suturing a new antihelical fold and, where needed, reducing the conchal bowl — then sets the ear at a natural angle to the head. Both ears are corrected in one session for symmetry, typically in 60–90 minutes. Adults are usually treated under local anaesthesia.
