How it works
in a short endoscopic procedure under sedation, a deflated silicone balloon is passed into the stomach and filled with sterile saline. The filled balloon occupies a significant share of stomach volume, so meals satisfy sooner and between-meal hunger is blunted. The first days bring nausea and cramping as the stomach adapts — managed with medication — after which most patients tolerate the balloon well.
