Physician-supervised chemical peeling at CLED removes the outer skin layers through controlled acid application, accelerating cell turnover and revealing fresher, smoother skin beneath. MUDr. Moskalyková selects the peel formulation — ranging from superficial glycolic and mandelic-acid peels for general brightening to deeper TCA formulations for acne scarring, melasma and photoaging — based on Fitzpatrick skin type, the target condition and the patient's downtime tolerance. Chemical peels at CLED complement the clinic's laser and injectable portfolio as a cost-effective maintenance option.
Chemical peeling is one of the oldest and most clinically validated approaches in aesthetic dermatology, using the controlled application of an acid to induce exfoliation at a defined skin depth. The acid disrupts the desmosomal bonds between corneocytes in the stratum corneum and superficial epidermis, causing organised shedding that triggers a renewal response: the fresh epidermis that forms is more even in texture, tone and pigment distribution, and the inflammatory response to the peel stimulates fibroblasts in the dermis to produce new collagen and elastin. At CLED MUDr. Miloslava Moskalyková selects the peel agent and concentration based on a thorough pre-peel assessment. Key variables include the patient's Fitzpatrick phototype (darker types have higher pigmentation risk with medium and deep peels and require more conservative formulations or longer conditioning), the presence of any active acne, rosacea or inflammatory skin disease, any history of cold sores (prophylactic antiviral medication is prescribed before peels in such patients), current use of retinoids (which must be stopped before peeling), and the patient's social and lifestyle context for downtime management. Superficial peels use low-concentration glycolic acid (AHA), mandelic acid or lactic acid, acting on the stratum corneum and granular layer. They produce mild erythema and flaking over two to three days; make-up can generally be worn from the next day. These are often incorporated into a monthly maintenance schedule for patients managing acne, hyperpigmentation, rosacea or general skin texture. Medium-depth peels using trichloroacetic acid (TCA), pyruvic acid or enhanced glycolic acid combinations penetrate to the papillary dermis. They induce frosting (blanching) at the skin surface during application and more pronounced peeling over five to ten days. The collagen stimulus is proportionally stronger, making medium peels more appropriate for moderate acne scarring, active hyperpigmentation or established photodamage. These require forward planning — social events and professional commitments should be cleared for the peeling period. Chemical peels at CLED are frequently combined with laser sessions for synergistic effect: a superficial peel before fractional CO2 resurfacing removes the stratum corneum's barrier, allowing more even laser energy distribution; peels scheduled alternately with sessions of the fractional MIXTO laser sustain continuous skin renewal between the more intensive laser treatments. Post-peel care is strict: barrier-repair moisturiser, no active exfoliants, no retinoids, no direct sun, and SPF 50+ consistently for ten to fourteen days.
