Type

Extraction

Duration

30 min

Tooth extraction removes a tooth that cannot be saved — because of severe decay, fracture, advanced gum disease or impaction. ChilliDent prices a straightforward extraction separately from surgical removal, which is needed for teeth that are broken at the gum line, impacted or awkwardly positioned, such as some wisdom teeth. Bone-preservation grafting and platelet-rich fibrin can be added where they help healing or future implant placement.

Although saving a natural tooth is always the first aim, extraction is sometimes the right course — for a tooth that is too badly decayed or broken to restore, severely loosened by gum disease, cracked below the gum, or causing problems through impaction, as often happens with wisdom teeth. Removing such a tooth can resolve pain and infection and protect the surrounding teeth and bone. At ChilliDent extractions are carried out under local anaesthetic by dentists experienced in oral surgery. A simple extraction, where the tooth is fully erupted and accessible, is the most straightforward; a surgical extraction is needed when a tooth has to be sectioned, is broken at the gum line, or lies partly or fully within the bone — including impacted wisdom teeth, which are priced according to difficulty. Where a tooth is removed from a site that may later receive an implant, or where preserving the bony ridge matters, the clinic can place a bone-substitute graft at the time of extraction, and can add platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) — prepared from a small sample of your own blood — to support the body's healing. After any extraction you are given clear aftercare advice to protect the clot and promote comfortable healing. Suitability, the type of extraction required and whether grafting is advisable are assessed beforehand, with imaging used where needed; the dentist will also discuss options for replacing the tooth, such as an implant or bridge.
