A contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance scan of the lesser pelvis, giving detailed, radiation-free images of the pelvic organs and surrounding soft tissue. The examination uses the centre's 2025 GE Signa Victor 1.5 Tesla system, with images acquired before and after the contrast is injected through a small cannula in the arm, so you should allow extra time around the appointment. Preparation required
Bring a recent creatinine (kidney function) result, generally within 14 days. Some pelvic scans need extra preparation — a light diet for a few days, an anti-foaming medication, bowel cleansing the day before, attending fasting and a partially filled bladder; the centre gives exact instructions at booking. Wear metal-free clothing, remove all metal items, and declare allergies, pregnancy, breastfeeding and any implants or pacemaker.
