Type
MRI Scan
Duration
50 min
A contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance scan of the lesser pelvis, giving detailed, radiation-free images of the pelvic organs and surrounding soft tissue. Intravenous contrast is given during the study to characterise structures and any changes more clearly. It is used for detailed assessment of the pelvic organs and to follow up findings from other imaging. The fixed self-pay price covers both the scan and the contrast agent, and some pelvic studies need specific bowel and bladder preparation, which the centre advises on at booking.
A contrast-enhanced MRI of the lesser pelvis provides a detailed, radiation-free view of the pelvic organs and the soft tissues, muscles and structures around them. MRI is particularly good at distinguishing the different soft tissues of the pelvis, and the intravenous gadolinium-based contrast helps characterise organs and any changes more precisely, which makes the study useful for detailed pelvic assessment and for following up findings raised by ultrasound or other tests. At Centrum Medyczne Zabobrze the published price for this study already includes the contrast agent. The examination uses the centre's 2025 GE Signa Victor 1.5 Tesla system, with images acquired before and after the contrast is injected through a small cannula in the arm, so you should allow extra time around the appointment. Some pelvic protocols require more involved preparation than a routine scan: depending on the indication you may be asked to follow a light diet for a few days beforehand, to take an anti-foaming medication, to carry out a bowel-cleansing routine the day before, to attend fasting and to arrive with a partially filled bladder — the centre will give you the exact instructions for your study when you book. A recent creatinine result is requested because the contrast is cleared by the kidneys, and any allergies, pregnancy, breastfeeding, implants or pacemaker should be declared in advance. Standard MRI rules apply: metal-free clothing and removal of all metal items. The radiologist issues a written report, with a faster CITO turnaround available for an additional fee, and certain implants or metal fragments may make the scan unsuitable.
