Type
MRI Scan
Duration
45 min
A magnetic resonance angiography study that images the blood vessels supplying and within the brain, performed with intravenous contrast to map the arteries and venous structures clearly. Angio-MR is a non-invasive way to assess the cerebral and intracranial vessels without catheters or ionising radiation, often used to look at vessel anatomy and previously identified vascular findings. The fixed self-pay price covers the examination and the contrast agent, with the radiologist confirming suitability beforehand.
Magnetic resonance angiography (angio-MR) of the head focuses on the blood vessels rather than the brain tissue itself, producing detailed maps of the arteries that supply the brain and of the larger intracranial and cerebrovascular structures. It is a non-invasive alternative to catheter angiography — there is no arterial puncture and no ionising radiation — which makes it a comfortable way to assess vessel anatomy and to look at vascular findings that an earlier scan may have raised. At Centrum Medyczne Zabobrze the study is performed with intravenous contrast, and the published price already includes the agent. The examination uses the centre's 2025 GE Signa Victor 1.5 Tesla scanner and combines vascular sequences with the contrast injection so the vessels are well defined. You lie still inside the scanner with a head coil in place while a series of images is acquired before and after the contrast is given through a small cannula in the arm; allow a little extra time around the appointment for this. Because the contrast is cleared by the kidneys, the centre asks for a recent creatinine result, generally within the previous fourteen days, and any allergies, pregnancy, breastfeeding, implants or pacemaker should be declared in advance. Standard MRI preparation applies — about four hours without food, metal-free clothing and removal of all metal items. The vascular images and the radiologist's interpretation are issued as a written report, with a faster CITO turnaround available for an additional fee. As with all MRI, certain implants or metal fragments may make the scan unsuitable.
