MRI Scan
Duration
45 min
What's included
4 deliverables in this treatment
- Contrast-enhanced MRI abdomen examination
- Gadolinium-based contrast agent
- Radiologist interpretation and written report
- Breathing guidance during the scan
A contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance scan of the abdomen, producing detailed images of the liver, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands and other abdominal structures without ionising radiation. Intravenous contrast is given during the study to characterise organs and any changes more clearly. It is used to assess abdominal organs in detail and to follow up findings from other tests. The fixed self-pay price covers both the scan and the contrast agent, with the radiologist confirming suitability beforehand.
About this treatment
A contrast-enhanced abdominal MRI gives a detailed, radiation-free assessment of the organs in the abdomen — including the liver, pancreas, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands and the surrounding soft tissues. Because MRI distinguishes soft tissues so well and the intravenous gadolinium-based contrast highlights differences in blood supply and tissue characteristics, it is a valuable way to characterise organs in detail, to look more closely at changes seen…
The scan is performed on the centre's 2025 GE Signa Victor 1.5 Tesla system. An abdominal study takes longer than a simple scan: images are acquired before and after the contrast is injected through a small cannula in the arm, and you will be asked to hold your breath for short periods so the organs are captured clearly — the scanner provides visual breathing cues to help with this. Because the contrast is cleared by the kidneys, a recent creatinine…

Clinical team
Magnetic resonance and CT examinations are described and reported by radiologists; a radiologist decides whether intravenous contrast is used for each study. Imaging is performed on a 2025 GE Signa Victor 1.5T MRI scanner and a Siemens SOMATOM go.Up CT scanner.
