About this treatment
Root canal (endodontic) treatment is needed when the soft pulp inside a tooth becomes infected or inflamed, often from deep decay, a crack or a failing old filling. The procedure removes that damaged tissue, then cleans, disinfects and shapes the fine canals inside the root before sealing them, which relieves pain and lets the natural tooth be retained instead of removed.
