The HIFU full-face treatment at Bona Dea uses the Utims A3, a Korean-manufactured high-intensity focused ultrasound platform designed for non-invasive skin lifting and tightening. Unlike radiofrequency or laser devices that heat tissue from the surface downward, HIFU focuses ultrasound energy at precise depths beneath the skin, creating thermal coagulation points at the targeted layer while leaving the epidermis untouched. The Utims A3 treats at three distinct depths using interchangeable cartridges: 4.5mm (targeting the SMAS — the superficial muscular aponeurotic system, the same tissue layer addressed in surgical facelifts), 3.0mm (deep dermis/subcutaneous boundary), and 1.5mm (superficial dermis). By heating tissue to 60-70°C at each focal point, the device triggers an immediate contraction of collagen fibres followed by a longer-term neocollagenesis process as the body replaces denatured collagen with new, tighter collagen over the following 2 to 3 months. A full-face session takes approximately 60 minutes and covers the forehead, temples, periorbital area, cheeks, nasolabial zone, jawline, and submental region.
